The field of applied linguistics has been occupied with numerous theories within domains such as semantics, pragmatics, culture, English for specific purposes, discourse, corpus linguistics, assessment, as well as psychology and sociology of language learning and teaching, to name a few. However, the practice of these theories in the field of materials development has faced gaps which have not been bridged yet. The purpose of the First National Conference on Applied Linguisitcs and Materials Development is to provide a venue so that researchers, scholars, teachers, and learners get together to air their academic voice regarding the major issues in the practice of the main theories and research findings in the field of applied linguistics.
